A New Leaf

New apartment, new houseplants. Let’s hope I can keep Leni here alive!

Hello everyone.

Thanks for checking in. It’s been a few months since I’ve posted. Sorry for the delay. Last year was not good for my creativity. But with 2020 behind us, we’re all moving on. Let’s go.

I have big news. In the last few months I have made big changes in my life. Me and my girlfriend moved up to Seattle, and are having a really awesome time. We got jobs, got an apartment, loaded up the cars, and got right out of town. It was great.

For Xmas last year Kait made me a hand bound sketchbook! Actually she made two, we’ll see how fast we can fill them.

So far everything has been going really well, and it feels like we are going with the flow in the right direction. Moving and getting set up in a new city has been a lot of work, but we are having fun exploring the new area and lifestyle. I like the way people act in Seattle, so far everyone has been very nice and welcoming.

We have been up here a month, and have been having a ton of fun. Our neighborhood, ballard, is really hip and fun to hang out in. Also, for the first time in a few years I am living with a cat! That’s fun.

In this next year, I am going to try to get back to work. The landscape here is so inspiring, and I want to try to capture that in my art. So far we have been hiking every week, and I can’t wait for the spring to break through up here. There’s, ahem, slightly more winter than I’m used to.

I also want to try to make climate change and sustainability more of a focus. This is a year where we have an opportunity to make a difference. Hopefully I can bring that sense of urgency and purpose into my work. I want to be less frivolous and more focused.

Very wintery scene in the Washington arboretum. Okay, not that wintery, but still, I came from Southern California so it’s cold to me!

This post is mostly to share my cool news and break my non-posting streak. I will be trying to post weekly throughout the year. Check back with this site and follow me on the wordpress app to get the easiest access to posts.

Until next time, thanks for stopping by. Happy vibes from the Pacific Northwest!

-Sam and Kait, Seattleites? Seattleonians? Eh, Seattle residents. We’ll figure out the lingo later.
